The Power of Failure

For the first time in 2 years, Open Studio is back in Santa Cruz. I visited a few South County studios this past weekend, and was gratified to see the art-loving public out and about.

You'd think having over a year "off" that I'd have an abundance of inventory, but alas, not so much. I did take the time to play, which, in retrospect, was invaluable. When there is always a push to sell, there's little time left to fool around, to explore, to fail.

I've failed countless times over these past months, trying out new ideas, attempting to gain command of a new skill. As I prep for Open Studios 2021, and I look over my new line as well as past inventory, I realize how grateful I am that I had this time to explore. And, importantly, I intend to build more play time into my regular studio life.
